This is a mini-non-episode announcement to say that because I have long covid, I am unable to hold a conversation without becoming breathless right now. Content warning that I have left the recorded announcement unedited so you can hear how bad I am at talking right now, so if distressed breathing is something you can’t take hearing, don’t listen.
The podcast is not cancelled, but it is going on temporary hiatus until I can hold a conversation again. I have no idea how long that will take. As mentioned in the announcement, I will still do another followup with the Merry Mischief Bakers next January/February, even if I still sound like this, and I still want to do the planned Star Trek episode this autumn if I can breathe and talk at all at the same time. But I can’t be sure of anything in the short term, so I’m on hiatus for at least the next few months.
I may be able to sit up and edit, so I’m calling on listeners who want mini episodes to submit content for me to put together where I don’t have to talk. You can leave me messenger voicemail in chunks that I can edit together, or you can record stuff and email it to me at kimberly at kimberlychapman dot com. Be clear about how much of your name you want included, and please do not send me anything from cake shows, as large gatherings are spreading covid and part of why I’m in this mess.
For the record, I recorded this a few days ago, it took me over a day to recover from talking that much, I have tried walking to the school and that went badly enough that a mobility device has been ordered. I am not okay. I’ll update with a new announcement if anything major changes.
The following songs and sound clips were used in this episode of Eat the Evidence. I am extremely grateful to creators who provide this content.
